The Government's January 2026 response sets a fabric performance requirement plus either heating-system or smart-readiness performance, with landlord investment capped at £10,000 per property over ten years.

Yes, where the landlord or freeholder has the necessary rights and the property is technically suitable. Roof condition, planning or lease restrictions, electrical capacity, metering and any required network notification or approval should be checked before installation.

Solar PV can improve an Energy Performance Certificate, but the result depends on the whole property and the EPC methodology in force. AORO models the likely impact before specification and recommends a post-work assessment where required.

The UK Government's 2026 policy response sets 1 October 2030 as the single compliance date for the new private rented sector standard, subject to Parliamentary approval. The social housing policy sets 1 April 2030 for homes to reach EPC C against one reformed EPC metric, with a second EPC metric required by 1 April 2039 unless a valid exemption applies.
