What you prepare

A firm, level position, handling help and 100 kg of ballast per support: 200 kg for Single or 300 kg for Dual. Ballast is separate from the kit. Weigh it; the pictured blocks illustrate placement.

How the parts work

Rails bridge the supports; end clamps retain the outside panel edges. A Dual arrangement also needs the specified shared centre attachment. Follow the rail, clamp and panel-frame instructions.

Measure the whole arrangement

A tub's dimensions are not the installed kit footprint. Allow for panel overhang, rail ends, gaps and safe access. This ground selection does not authorise a roof installation.

Panel & microinverter matching

The selected modules fall within the Fox ESS M1-800-E datasheet limits at Standard Test Conditions. This comparison uses each selected module’s electrical ratings, not the higher AC rating printed on the inverter.

Module ratings at STC compared with Fox ESS input limits

Short-circuit current (Isc)14.43 A14.32 A14.04 AShort-circuit limit 24 A

Single uses one panel input. Dual uses one panel per independent MPPT input: 920 W DC with JA Solar / AIKO or 1000 W DC with DMEGC, through one 800 W AC microinverter. DC panel ratings and AC output capacity are different; the inverter limits output at its rated capacity.

STC matching is not a cold-weather or bifacial-gain design calculation. Voltage and current vary with temperature and irradiance. Keep panel connectors paired with the matching supplied connector system; “MC4 compatible” does not by itself approve mixing connector brands. Follow the Fox ESS manual for input connections, sealing any unused input and the supplied UK lead.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY & NETWORK

A suitable home.
A suitable connection.

Electrical Safety First recommends having your electrics assessed before buying or using plug-in solar. It recommends at least a Type A bidirectional RCD; Type AC protection needs upgrading first.

  • No extension leads, cable reels or adapters
  • One plug-in solar system per household
  • Follow the selected kit's approved connection instructions
  • Check any existing solar generation and battery equipment

Know your grid connection

Fox ESS M1-800-E has an 800 W nominal AC rating. Use the exact device assessment reference and connection details for the supplied hardware and firmware; panel DC watts are a separate specification.

The setup page explains the information to keep for your DNO: address, model, serial numbers, AC output and any existing solar or storage.

Check the equipment declaration and connection requirements for your installation. This grid-connected kit does not provide power-cut backup.

PRODUCT QUESTIONS

Before you decide.

Ask the AORO team →
Should I choose one panel or two?

Start with the available space and your daytime electricity demand. Compare panel area, handling and the final kit output. Two panels need more room; neither option replaces a full home energy assessment.

Can I choose JA Solar, AIKO or DMEGC?

Yes. These are three panel options within both AORO Single and Dual Panel Plug-In Solar Kits, with Fox ESS 800W-class microinverter, UK 3-pin connection and app / Wi-Fi monitoring. The selected models are JA Solar JAM54D41-460/LB (460 W), AIKO AIKO-A460-MAH54Mb (460 W) and DMEGC DM500M10RT-B60HBT/HST (500 W). Manufacturer datasheets and dimensions are available on both product pages. Dual includes 2 × 460 W (920 W DC) for JA Solar / AIKO or 2 × 500 W (1000 W DC) for DMEGC with one Fox ESS M1-800-E rated 800 W nominal AC.

How are estimated savings calculated?

The calculator multiplies annual generation by the proportion used at home and your electricity unit rate. Its inputs are illustrative assumptions, not a site-specific production forecast. Export income is excluded.

How much space do I need?

Measure panel height, width and depth, the mount footprint and clearance, plus the route from delivery to its final position. Single Panel module dimensions are 1762 × 1134 × 30 mm for JA Solar (22 kg), 1757 × 1134 × 30 mm for AIKO (21.5 kg) and 1950 × 1134 × 30 mm for DMEGC (26.8 kg). Allow for the mounting footprint and safe clearances; panel dimensions do not describe the complete assembled kit.

Do I need an electrician?

Connecting the prepared kit through its supplied UK plug is different from changing house wiring. Electrical Safety First advises an electrical suitability assessment before purchase or use. If your socket or circuit protection needs upgrading, use a qualified electrician. Do not rewire the lead, open the inverter or repair electrical parts yourself.

What happens during a power cut?

This grid-connected kit is not sold as outage backup. The microinverter stops supplying power when the mains supply is lost. Do not rely on the system to keep appliances running in a grid outage.

Can I monitor generation through an app?

Both kits use FoxCloud 2.0 for manufacturer monitoring. Register as an Owner, add the device to your plant and configure a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network through Me → WLAN Configuration. The setup page links the official app guide and explains power, energy and connection troubleshooting. FoxCloud is a Fox ESS app.

Where do you deliver and how much does it cost?

VAT and UK kerbside delivery are included: £385 for Single Panel and £585 for Dual Panel. Allow 3 weeks from order confirmation. Contact plugin@aorosolar.co.uk if you have delivery access questions.

Can I cancel or return my kit?

Contact AORO with the order reference. UK distance-selling rights generally give 14 days after receipt to notify cancellation, then a further 14 days to return goods. AORO-arranged change-of-mind return collection costs £50. This transport charge does not apply to faulty, damaged or misdescribed goods. Contact plugin@aorosolar.co.uk for return instructions.

What warranty will I receive?

JA Solar and AIKO sheets state 25-year manufacturer product and 30-year linear performance warranties. DMEGC’s current N-type policy covers the selected M10RT-B60 glass-glass family for 25 years against product defects and 30 years for performance. Policy DMW-STD02N-2026002 applies to manufacturer supply agreements from 1 June 2026; eligible supply and claim conditions apply. Manufacturer conditions apply. AORO provides a 25-year commercial warranty for the supplied Fox ESS M1-800-E microinverter. This AORO cover is separate from the manufacturer’s published limited warranty and your statutory rights. Contact plugin@aorosolar.co.uk with your order reference and serial number to start a claim. Statutory rights remain separate.
